C9 Manual Transmission?
Will the C9 Corvette Bring Back the Manual Transmission?

GM’s Chief Engineer Has Some
Disappointing News for Three-Pedal Fans!
For Corvette enthusiasts hoping the next-generation C9 will bring back the manual transmission, the news isn’t encouraging!
Since the mid-engine C8 debuted in 2020, the absence of a clutch pedal has been a sore spot for traditional Corvette enthusiasts. While its 8-speed dual-clutch transmission delivers lightning-fast shifts and incredible performance, some drivers still miss the thrill of rowing through the gears themselves.
So, could the C9 change that?
According to Corvette Chief Engineer Tony Roma, don’t count on it!
Roma recently explained that earlier Corvettes benefited from manual transmissions developed and refined over decades. But the mid-engine C8 platform would require an entirely new manual transaxle, making the investment difficult to justify for a relatively small number of buyers.
Even Tremec’s recently displayed 6-speed manual transaxle, which generated considerable excitement among Corvette enthusiasts, isn’t a production-ready solution approved by GM.
Although Roma is a manual-transmission enthusiast himself, his comments suggest that a three-pedal C9 remains unlikely.
So, is the manual Corvette gone forever? Chevrolet hasn’t officially revealed the C9’s transmission plans, but for now, enthusiasts who want to shift their own gears may have to stick with the C7 and earlier generations!

A Very Special Invitation

Something extraordinary is happening at Corvette Mike.
Two unforgettable Las Vegas settings.
Two remarkable automobiles.
One exciting new chapter.
We’re proud to announce the official launch of the Vietro Collective, making its debut at the prestigious Wynn Concours d’Elegance, October 29–November 1, 2026, in Las Vegas.
Our beautiful 1963 Tuxedo Black Corvette Sting Ray Split-Window Z06 Coupe will be displayed on the lawn at Wynn as part of the Vietro Collective, rather than participating in the judged competition. It’s a fitting stage for the first-year C2, a car whose unmistakable silhouette still commands attention.
Alongside it will sit a stunning Ferrari 458 Spider celebrating Ferrari’s iconic 60th Anniversary in America. The Corvette’s dramatic split-window profile and the Ferrari’s flowing, sculpted lines will bring two distinct expressions of automotive beauty to the lawn at Wynn. Together, they’ll be a sight to behold.
This is what the Vietro Collective is about: remarkable automobiles, enduring design, and the passion that brings enthusiasts together. We can’t imagine a more memorable setting for its official introduction.
And the Corvette’s Las Vegas appearance won’t end there. During SEMA Week, November 3–6, 2026, the Tuxedo Black ’63 will take its place on stage November 5 at SEMA Industry Honors, the aftermarket industry’s annual celebration, held at the BleauLive Theater at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
SEMA itself has a remarkable history. The Association was formed in 1963, with the first SEMA Show held in 1967 at Dodger Stadium. The event moved to Las Vegas in 1977, making it the longest-running city-wide show in Las Vegas. The year 2027 will mark 60 years since the first SEMA Show, celebrating six decades of bringing together some of the most influential people, vehicles, and innovations in the automotive world.
For all of us at Corvette Mike, these appearances are an honor and an exciting beginning for the Vietro Collective. From the lawn at Wynn to the awards stage at SEMA, this will be a Las Vegas adventure worth celebrating.
Join us at Wynn and be part of the Vietro Collective’s debut. Mark your calendar for October 29–November 1 and make plans to see these extraordinary automobiles in person. Contact Corvette Mike for display details and to connect with our team during the event.
