Bowling Green Corvette Plant to Pause Production for Extended Holiday!
Big news out of Bowling Green. Corvette Assembly Plant will pause production for four weeks this holiday season.
Traditionally, the plant observes a two-week winter shutdown, but this year GM has elected to extend the break to a full month. The scheduled pause will begin Monday, December 15, with operations set to resume on Monday, January 12, 2026.
This facility remains the exclusive home of Corvette manufacturing, building America’s sports car continuously since 1981, and serving as its sole production site for more than four decades.
The shutdown also temporarily affects engine assembly at the plant’s Performance Build Center (PBC), where hand-built engines are produced for select high-performance GM models including:
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 & ZR1
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
Cadillac Escalade-V
Additionally, guided tours of the Bowling Green Assembly Plant will be suspended during the shutdown period. However, the National Corvette Museum remains open throughout the holidays with limited closures only on:
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
January 1, 2026
Production may be pausing, but the Corvette legacy never stops. We’ll be watching closely to see how this affects availability, wait times, and collector interest as we roll into 2026.
Stay tuned… more Corvette news coming soon!

Coming to Mecum’s 2026 Kissimmee Auction

Personal Friend of the original owner of Goldie!
Chevrolet Corvette Collector Dreams:
L88 Set for Mecum Kissimmee 2026!!
This ’69 L88 Coupe, nicknamed “Goldie” for its Riverside Gold paint, was one of a handful of L88s to reach the street. It’s a rarity among rarities, one of 17 equipped with a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission.
Unlike its racing brothers, Goldie led a pampered life. It spent most of its time in the hands of several collectors and retained its original engine and transmission. It received a thorough refresh to original specs in 2025 and earned an NCRS Top Flight Award with a 98.3-point score at the 2025 National Convention in Las Vegas!
1982 Collector Edition
N.C.R.S. Top Flight award in 2017!

The ‘82 model year was a significant one for Corvette. It marked the end of the line for the third generation. At 14 years, it was (and remains) the longest model run in Corvette history! To commemorate this event, a special “Collector Edition” was introduced. It came with basically every available option and was the first Corvette to have an MSRP of over $20k. The C.E. came finished in a beautiful Silver Beige exterior with a brown hood and side stripes, “Collector Edition” emblems, and turbine style aluminum wheels that were reminiscent of the bolt on’s offered in ’67. On the inside, the theme continued with Silver Beige seats and door panels.

But what also set the C.E. apart from the base Corvettes offered in ’82 was an opening rear hatch. The first and only time this feature was offered on a Shark! Also introduced in ’82 was the L83 Crossfire injected engine.
This 1982 Collector Edition achieved an N.C.R.S. Top Flight award in 2017, and it currently shows only 30k miles on the odometer. The car is powered by the aforementioned L83 350ci Crossfire V8 linked to a four-speed automatic transmission (also a first for Corvette), and a Posi-Traction differential, removable bronze glass roof panels, a Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo, cruise control, power windows, and air conditioning!

The car spent over 40 years in the South West before we acquired it.
Documentation & Awards:
• NCRS Top Flight Award (2017)
• Original window sticker, build sheet, owner’s manual, and records
• Clean title, no accidents or damage
