The Corvette community suffered a tremendous loss last week when Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois was devastated by a tornado. For decades, Mid America Motorworks has been far more than just a parts supplier. It has been a trusted resource, a gathering place, and a major part of the Corvette hobby for owners, collectors, restorers, and drivers across the country.<\/p>\n

Founded by Mike Yager and built from humble beginnings, Mid America Motorworks grew into one of the best-known names in Corvette parts and accessories, serving Corvette owners across all generations. Whether someone was restoring a solid-axle Corvette, maintaining a C3, improving a C4 or C5, or keeping a modern Corvette on the road, Mid America Motorworks has been part of countless Corvette stories.<\/p>\n

The damage reportedly included buildings, inventory, the museum, memorabilia, and historic vehicles connected to Corvette history. For those of us who love these cars, that kind of loss is difficult to fully put into words. Parts can be reordered, buildings can be rebuilt, and businesses can reopen, but original history, special cars, and decades of collected memories are not easily replaced.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, the most important news is that the Yager family and team members were reported safe. That matters more than anything. Still, our hearts go out to everyone at Mid America Motorworks as they face the difficult work ahead.<\/p>\n

Corvette people are known for supporting one another, and Mid America Motorworks has supported this hobby for more than 50 years. We send our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathy to the Yager family, their employees, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking storm.
