Auction Voices at the Petersen<\/p>\n
We recently attended a special panel discussion at the Petersen Automotive Museum featuring leaders from RM Sotheby\u2019s, Hagerty, Mecum Auctions, Cars & Bids, and Gooding Christie\u2019s. The discussion focused on the current state of the collector car market, where it is headed, and what continues to drive value in great cars.<\/p>\n
A major theme was the changing generation of collectors. Longtime enthusiasts are beginning to pass cars down or sell collections, while younger buyers are entering the market with different tastes. At the same time, the fundamentals remain the same: provenance, documentation, originality, condition, color, options, mileage, and history all continue to separate good cars from truly special ones.<\/p>\n
The panel also discussed the growth of online auctions alongside traditional live events, and how both are helping bring more people into the hobby. Our biggest takeaway was simple: the collector car market is evolving, but passion still drives it. Great cars with great stories will always matter, something we have believed at Corvette Mike since 1982.<\/p>\n
