GM President Mark Reuss recently revealed on the Inside EVs podcast that while the idea of an all-electric Corvette remains possible, it\u2019s not happening just yet.\n
Reuss explained that building a true Corvette experience, balancing dynamics, weight, and thermal performance, remains a major challenge with today\u2019s EV technology. \u201cAn all-electric Corvette that drives like a Corvette isn\u2019t easy right now,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ll get there when the technology makes it right.\u201d<\/p>\n
For now, GM\u2019s focus will stay on perfecting its current lineup, including the hybrid C8 E-Ray. Forecasts show the C8 program running through 2028, with the next-gen C9 likely keeping an internal combustion engine well into the 2030s.<\/p>\n

I got into Corvettes when I retired 11 years ago from a 40 year career of teaching chemistry and physics to high schoolers in South Dakota and bought a retirement gift to myself, a 1995 black on black coupe. It was a little tired with 95,000 miles on it but I thought it would be a great car for me to do a little wrenching on. I was able to do that and fixed all the little things that were wrong with it with the help of the factory service manual that was the first thing I bought after the Corvette. I was able to take it to the 2014 Black Hills Corvette Classic Rally. I think my wife enjoyed driving it as much as I did. A couple of my DIY improvements even made it into the Vette Vues magazine, a DIY route bag and a DIY foldable cup holder. After about seven years of ownership, I fulfilled another checkoff on my bucket list when I purchased a 2007 Le Mans blue metallic 3LT convertible. I am enjoying the Corvette community even more with this car and its HUD display. I believe in driving them and will do so as often as I can.<\/p>\n
