We\u2019re excited to announce a special event at Corvette Mike!<\/p>\n
On June 21st, we\u2019ll be unveiling an exceptionally rare Corvette, not seen since 1986. In collaboration with the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) Southern California Chapter, this remarkable car will be formally judged\u2014an opportunity you won\u2019t want to miss.<\/p>\n
See first hand the judging and how involved it is to receive an NCRS award.<\/p>\n

This event is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, as parking is limited. We\u2019re also adding a bit of fun to the reveal with a surprise food truck for all to enjoy.<\/p>\n

I knew I had an unusual car and I thought that it was a good restoration candidate,<\/p>\n
so I soldiered on with it. I sent the fuel unit to DeGregory. The gauge pod had holes (tach) so I removed it. On the inside was number 1 in grease pencil -BOOM! What is this? Could it be the body build number? After that I kept my eyes out for more 1\u2019s. While John D set a two year timeline on restoring the fuel unit I stripped the car down. Acid dipped the frame and all suspension parts. Couldn\u2019t help but notice the roll bar mounts. What secrets? Who raced it? Then the motor \u2013 What are these strange looking heads? No humps, no triangles, no nothing. So I found some 461 heads for judging. I noticed the 0 -19158 and 5\/17\/60 date and GM logo on them. So I was smart enough not to scrap them because you never know what you have. Anyway, the years kept on going on. \u00a0Trips to Carlisle, Bloomington, meets and swap meets. Finally, some good luck. Volume 25-Number Three-Winter 1999 showed up in my mailbox and Bert Brown had a set of the exact same heads. Mystery solved -they were experimental \u201c0\u201d heads. The plot thickens. So now I have vin # 13 with RPO687, big brakes with fuel injection. Anyway, it is also radio delete, top tank radiator, quick steering adapter and a few early 60 parts were used on it. When I uncovered the dash there was a bright green 1- body build again, plus the car was originally white or ivory according to trunk rub. Race teams would buy white cars and put their numbers and stripes on them. Why were big brakes invented, because Mercedes and others were kicking Corvettes ass on the race tracks. The vette was faster, but got killed on the turns. When the brakes got hot they lost. So big brakes Corvettes win and that\u2019s the way it was. It\u2019s history and so is vin number 13. Anyway why doesn\u2019t vin 13 match body build 1? Now I am pretty sure I know. The first 12 cars had hand layed fiberglass boat cloth on their undercarriage. No 13 is 100 percent press molded. GM didn\u2019t throw anything away. GM undoubtedly cast (from a good source) 25 sets of these heads. After testing the remainder ,as long as fit and function were ok these leftover heads were then used in regular production and so was any other part that was leftover from 1960 production.<\/p>\n

The truck lived the late part of its life at Bruce\u2019s vacation home in AZ. in a climate-controlled garage designated just for this vehicle! To say it was treasured would be an understatement!<\/p>\n
Before the estate relinquished the SSR, it was treated to a complete once-over by the local Chevrolet dealer in Tuscon. At the inspection there were a list of items that were recommended and completed, totalling $4,000.<\/p>\n
