C8 Radar Detector damaged driver\u2019s side mirror<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Customers are complaining that the driver\u2019s side outside rearview mirror on some C8\u2019s are getting damaged and have a poor appearance. The mirror starts showing numerous lines inside the mirror and a dim reflection at all times.<\/p>\n

It turns out this is because of the installation of a jumper harness to power the radar detector added to the mirror\u2019s X1 connector. The connector is located behind the front cover of the inside rearview mirror.<\/p>\n

This fix is relatively easy and just takes disconnecting the jumper harness and replacing the damaged outside rearview mirror. The hard part is the fact that this is not covered under warranty, as damage resulting from aftermarket devices is not covered under warranty.<\/p>\n

I purchased this 2001 Corvette new in November of 2000. Lingenfelter installed the Magnuson supercharger shortly thereafter. Then I installed Donaldson cold air injection, headers, Z06 transmission and clutch, hurst speed shifter, and Corsa Indy 500 mufflers. I have had several new vettes dating back to 1965, but I have finally decided to keep this one. It is still winning trophies for shows at 21 years old and 98,000 miles. I love this C-5 Corvette.<\/p>\n
