Thundering Thursday VOL 13-18 – ZR1x – 1.68-second 0–60 & 8.675 1/4 mile
Chevrolet’s Corvette ZR1X Redefines American Street-Car Performance

Chevrolet has pushed Corvette performance into truly historic territory with the new 2026 Corvette ZR1X, a hybrid, all-wheel-drive supercar that mixes a twin-turbo 5.5L LT7 V8 with an electric motor for a staggering 1,250 horsepower.
In recent GM testing, the ZR1X blasted from 0–60 mph in just 1.68 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in an astonishing 8.675 seconds at 159 mph on a dragstrip, figures that put it squarely at the top of the list for production cars built in America.
What makes the ZR1X even more impressive is that these numbers were achieved with standard tires and street-legal calibration, highlighting its capability right out of the factory.
With its blend of brute force, all-weather traction, and cutting-edge propulsion technology, the ZR1X isn’t just a Corvette; it’s a statement: American engineering can play with the world’s fastest and come out ahead.

2007 LeMans Blue Metallic Convertible

I purchased my first Corvette when I retired 10 years ago. It was a black 1995 coupe with a black interior. It had a few blemishes and enough wrong with it that I could do a little wrenching on it to occupy my time. I did thoroughly enjoy it and took it to several Black Hills Corvette Classic Rallies in my home state of South Dakota. During the summer of Covid (2020) I found this beautify LeMans blue metallic 2007 convertible. Owning a convertible was on my bucket list and as I am not getting any younger I dropped the hammer and traded up. My wife loves the car too and we have taken it to several Black Hills Corvette Rallies since then. This picture was taken on the way to the last rally on a side trip through the Badlands National Park in western South Dakota.
